dc.description.abstractDistance Education is already present in the world long before the Information Age and its development is linked to the technology of each era, in the face of technological advances. Nowadays it is part of most of those who enter the academic life. In the pandemic period, the importance of education based on virtual learning platforms became notorious, which matters in this research. The links of the Open University in Brazil with Development, especially the Goiás Regional, is of paramount importance, since Quality Education is among the SDGs listed by the UN. It can be seen that there is no need to talk about development, distancing itself from Education, which includes the Open University. It seeks to analyze the relationship between the UAB and the debate on Regional Development with a focus on the State of Goiás, thus making it necessary to understand what Distance Education is, to analyze the policy of creation and implementation of the UAB, as well as to verify the UAB's links with the Regional Development of the State of Goiás. Thus, it is necessary to demonstrate the need to review the program in the State of Goiás, because as presented between the years 2017 and 2020, there was a decline of approximately 83% in the number of courses offered by UAB in Goiás, as well as a drastic decrease in the amount of enrolled students, taking into account, in the context of the search for greater autonomy and greater investment by the government, so that it returns to being an effective public policy and that maintains the direct connection between Education and Regional Development that is sought in the State of Goiás.
dc.description.resumoA Educação a Distância já está presente no mundo muito antes da Era da Informação e tem seu desenvolvimento vinculado à tecnologia de cada época, frente ao avanço tecnológico. Hodiernamente faz parte de grande parte daqueles que ingressam na vida acadêmica. No período pandêmico, tornou-se notória a importância da educação pautada em plataformas virtuais de aprendizagem, o que importa na presente pesquisa. Os vínculos da Universidade Aberta no Brasil com o Desenvolvimento, em especial o Regional de Goiás, é de suma importância, vez que a Educação de Qualidade está entre os ODS elencados pela ONU. Vê-se que não há que se falar em desenvolvimento, distanciando-se da Educação, o que inclui a Universidade Aberta. Busca-se analisar a relação entre a UAB e o debate sobre o Desenvolvimento Regional com o foco no Estado de Goiás, sendo necessário assim compreender o que é a Educação a Distância, analisar a política de criação e implementação da UAB, bem como verificar os vínculos da UAB com o Desenvolvimento Regional do Estado de Goiás. Assim, há que se demonstrar a necessidade de revisão do programa no Estado de Goiás, pois conforme apresentado entre os anos de 2017 e 2020 houve um declínio de aproximadamente 83% na quantidade cursos ofertados pela UAB em Goiás, bem como a diminuição drástica do quantitativo de alunos matriculados, levando em consideração, no contexto da busca de maior autonomia e maior investimento por parte do governo, para que volte a ser uma política pública eficaz e que mantém a conexão direta da Educação e o Desenvolvimento Regional que se busca no Estado de Goiás
