Moral harassment is a form of psychological violence that affects individuals within organizational settings and has increasingly expanded into higher education institutions, undermining the psychopedagogical environment and interpersonal relationships. This study aimed to examine the perceptions and experiences of university professors from private higher education institutions in Brazil regarding the occurrence of moral harassment, identifying its manifestations in three dimensions: downward (employers), horizontal (colleagues), and upward (students). The sample consisted of 112 professors, representing 40.9% of the 274 individuals invited to participate, from institutions located in all five Brazilian regions. Data were collected via an online questionnaire containing 11 questions, including three subscales with 49 items assessing workplace moral harassment, disseminated through WhatsApp and LinkedIn between September 24 and October 16, 2025.A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional design was applied. One-way ANOVA, Student’s t-tests, and Tukey post hoc comparisons were conducted to assess statistically significant differences between groups. Results indicated that female participants were the primary targets of negative acts perpetrated by employers, colleagues, and students. The prevalence of moral harassment was 33.04% from employers, 33.93% from colleagues, and 39.29% from students. Significant differences were found in the mean frequency of negative behaviors according to the aggressor type, with abusive acts by hierarchical superiors occurring more frequently than those from peers or students.Given the identified incidents, preventive institutional interventions are recommended, including informational programs, training in conflict resolution and social skills, awareness campaigns, and the implementation of comprehensive policies to combat moral harassment in university environments.
