With the participation of the agents involved, a better management is sought through the state-society relationship. According to the PSC / IFAC (2001), the basic and guiding principles for such a relationship are Transparency, Integrity and Accountability by public managers. The public governance theme is still incipient in the country's public administration and there is a great lack of studies in this area. In order to have effective public management in the country, contrary to what has been observed in recent years, in which denouncements and evidence of embezzlement of public money have been taking over the public administration, it is necessary to adopt good governance practices. In this study, it was identified the guiding and fundamental points that characterize the current model of public governance adopted in the direct administration of the State of Goiás. From this diagnosis, it was evidenced the existence of similar elements and non conformity between the current model of governance practiced in the State and the public governance model recommended by PSC / IFAC. In this context, this research sought to analyze how adherence to the principles of public sector governance proposed in the PSC / IFAC model can contribute to public management in the direct administration of the State of Goiás. The PSC / IFAC makes recommendations through Study 13, grouping them into four dimensions for the public sector: Patterns of Behavior; Organizational Structures and Processes; Control; And External Reports. In the research, a qualitative approach was used, classified as descriptive in purpose, and the semi-structured interview was the main method of data collection. As for the means of investigation, documentary, bibliographic research and multiple case studies were used in the direct administration of the State of Goiás, specifically in the SED (Pilot Case), SEDUCE, SEFAZ, Civil House and CGE. The results showed that the direct administration of the State of Goiás adopts some good governance practices according to the four dimensions of the PSC / IFAC model, however, some recommendations are partially met or are not adopted in the governance model used by management. The study showed that, considering the three principles of the PSC / IFAC model, the governance model practiced in the direct administration of the State of Goiás can be improved.ptGovernança corporativaGestão efetivaEstado de Goiás
