Thinking about the social role played by education in Brazilian society, more specifically, from the perspective of dropout and dropout in high school, is essential due to the data presented in this stage of basic education. Of the 3.6 million who enroll in high school, only 1.8 million complete this degree. In this sense, the general objective of this work is to make a diagnosis of dropout and dropout in high schools in Santa Terezinha de Goiás, the possible causes that lead young people to evade and propose subsidies for Public Policies. To this end, a survey of bibliographic references was carried out to support the discussion on the challenges of evasion, afterwards an exercise was carried out to contextualize the scenario of education and challenges of High School in Goiás, and especially in the Microregion of Porangatu. The data point to a scenario of great challenges to the micro-region of Porangatu, of which Santa Terezinha de Goiás is part. And, due to a scenario of low schooling of the positions held, low wages when compared to other locations, an advance was made in the analyzes defining Santa Terezinha as the locus of analysis and data collection among young people. Thus, a survey of students enrolled in high school, in the schools of Santa Terezinha de Goiás, was carried out, as well as a survey of data on students who abandoned or evaded, and a survey of the motivations that led students to abandon and evade. Through the application of questionnaires, a survey of the motivations that led students to evade was carried out. The main results indicate that special attention is needed for local conditions, as well as a treatment of the comparative data that point to the main school dropout assessment indexes.
