It is through it that people's capacity and opportunities are increased, helping them to expand possibilities for personal and socioeconomic growth. It is also a gateway to knowledge that feeds the idea of a developed region, but for this development to occur, it is necessary to offer quality education, in which efficient investments and public educational policies are necessary for the realization of this purpose. Thus, this research had the general objective of analyzing the relationship between school dropout and social inequality in a state public school in the municipality of Goiânia and their intersections with regional development. The following question was the research problem: What is the relationship between school dropout and social inequality in a public high school in Goiânia? The initial bibliographic survey considered the analyzes by Ferreira and Oliveira (2020) on the consequences of school dropout in High School; the discussion on the relationship between poverty and school dropout in Rosa e Silva (2021); IBGE data (2021) on school dropout; the Goiás State Education Plan (2015- 2025); in addition to case studies on the causes of school dropout by Santos, Romão and Batista (2020) and Senna, Souza and Vogel (2021). The methodology relied on a qualitative field survey, with questionnaires with frequent and dropout students, teachers, and the management team of the school where the research was carried out. It was observed in the face of the results that for teachers, the reasons that most lead students to drop out of studies are the need to work; lack of interest in classes; demotivation; learning difficulties; lack of family support and teenage pregnancy. It was also highlighted that the students who dropped out were mostly male, 83.3% had an employment relationship; and the reasons listed for leaving school were: 50% of students claimed lack of interest in relation to the content taught by the teacher in the classroom, 33.3% cited financial issues and the need to work and 16.7% mentioned pregnancy in adolescence.ptEvasão EscolarDesigualdade EscolarRelações entra a evasão escolar e a desigualdade social em uma escola pública de Goiânia
