Thus, understanding and comprehending the constitution and distribution of financial resources for school meals in Goiânia is extremely important because it is a determining factor for the academic development of students and the region itself. Healthy, nutritious and balanced school meals play a very important role in contributing to biopsychosocial growth and development, promoting learning and academic performance, in addition to forming healthy eating habits, social interaction and contributing to the food security of students. Through a methodological approach and a detailed analysis of data collected from the State Department of Education of Goiás (SEDUC), as well as a bibliographic review with renowned authors such as Aranha (2012), Libâneo (2006) and Saviani (2013), among others, the study explores all the complexity involved, such as school days, the number of students served, the meals served, and amounts spent per day and per year, as well as the resources received and returned from the Protege Fund and the National School Meals Fund. Based on this analysis, the main objective was to understand how the financial resources for school meals in Goiânia are constituted and distributed. To achieve the general objective, the specific objectives were to understand the importance of education, understand the purpose of school feeding through its history, through its concepts, laws and guidelines and, finally, a comparative analysis of the resources received from the Fundo Protege, from the State of Goiás, and from the National School Feeding Fund, from the Federal Government, as well as the expenses with the common market and with family farming in Goiânia and their results, as a factor of regional development. This work highlights the magnitude of the National School Feeding Program, as being essential for education and including Family Farming, which promotes regional development and, especially, in Goiânia. It is worth emphasizing that school feeding has a significant influence on learning, physical development, participates in food security and promotes social inclusion in order to contribute to regional development. However, the results revealed that school meals, despite providing positive meanings in school life and students' health, the monetary values in all their nuances were not sufficient to meet all the objectives recommended in the relevant legislation in the period analyzed, from 2018 to 2022, not even in the sense of keeping up with the annual inflation of the respective years of analysis. Hence the importance and need for more rigorous monitoring by the school community, society itself, and family farmers in order to demand and seek effective compliance with laws and guidelines on school meals, towards quality learning for students and sustainable regional development.ptAlimentação escolarEducaçãoRepasses financeirosGoiânia
