In the context of the right to decent housing, this fundamental right is intrinsically linked to constitutional economic democracy. Ensuring decent housing is not just about providing physical shelter, but also involves access to adequate housing conditions, basic infrastructure, and the creation of public policies that ensure everyone has a fair share of economic benefits. Therefore, promoting the right to decent housing within a perspective of constitutional economic democracy not only ensures adequate housing, but also seeks to eradicate socioeconomic disparities, promoting an environment where everyone can enjoy a dignified and equitable life. In constitutional letters, this right is often enshrined as an essential component of human dignity, reflecting the concern to guarantee adequate housing conditions for all citizens. Constitutionalism, by recognizing the right to housing, seeks to create a solid legal basis for the protection of individuals against lack of shelter and precarious housing conditions, thus establishing a State commitment to promoting social inclusion and quality of life. In this context, constitutions often not only recognize the right to housing, but also establish the State's responsibility to adopt effective public policies to guarantee universal access to decent housing conditions. Constitutionalism, by anchoring the right to housing, not only emphasizes the importance of the physical aspect of housing, but also highlights the need to consider socioeconomic and cultural factors in the formulation of housing policies. In this way, the right to housing in constitutionalism represents an intrinsic commitment to social justice, equality and the promotion of well-being, consolidating itself as an essential pillar in the construction of fairer and more equitable societies. The housing deficit is a global challenge that refers to the quantitative and qualitative inadequacy of housing in relation to the population's demand. This disparity arises due to factors such as population growth, accelerated urbanization, poverty and lack of access to housing financing. To address this problem, public housing policies play a crucial role, seeking not only to address the lack of housing, but also to promote decent and sustainable housing conditions. These policies often involve the implementation of affordable financing programs, housing subsidies, land regularization and the construction of social housing units, aiming to meet the varied needs of the population. Furthermore, public housing policies are designed not only as corrective measures, but also as preventive instruments, seeking to address the structural causes of the housing deficit. Initiatives that promote sustainable urban planning, the development of adequate infrastructure and the inclusion of marginalized communities in the decision-making process are essential components of these policies. Therefore, by directing resources and efforts towards mitigating the housing deficit, public housing policies play a vital role in building more equitable, resilient societies capable of providing decent living conditions for all their citizens.ptConstitucionalismoDemocracia econômicaDireitos fundamentaisDemocracia econômica constitucional e o direito à moradia digna
