It also considers the impact of Big Tech companies on the economy and democracy in the 21st century. This is a highly relevant study, given the growing concentration of power among digital platforms, which in some cases has led to economic imbalances and threats to fair competition, freedom of expression, and data protection. The absence of an effective regulatory framework may facilitate abuse by large digital corporations. There is an urgent need to explore a democratic regulatory model that ensures the protection of fundamental rights, the preservation of economic and informational order, and free competition. The core research question is: How can the State effectively regulate the increasing economic and political power of digital companies, especially in addressing anticompetitive practices in the digital environment? The research objectives focus on analyzing this regulation and investigating existing mechanisms in Brazil and abroad; understanding the challenges posed by internet giants; and assessing the consequences of lacking an effective, democratic, and efficient legal framework. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a hypothetico-deductive method. It employs bibliographic and documentary research, analyzing legislation, legal doctrines, case law, and reports from institutions such as CADE, ANPD, and international authorities. It also examines real-world cases involving major digital platforms (Google, Meta, Amazon) to identify anticompetitive practices. The proposal aims to connect theory with practical analysis to suggest viable regulatory solutions. Finally, it concludes that government regulation of digital platforms is essential to curb anticompetitive practices and maintain fair competition. The research shows that the lack of effective rules weakens the economy, democracy, and fundamental rights. Therefore, it highlights the urgent need for a democratic and efficient regulatory framework capable of harmonizing technological innovation with social protection.ptBig techsOrdem econômicaRegulação concorrencialPlataformas digitaisEstado e poder digital : regulação das redes sociais e o enfrentamento de práticas anticoncorrenciais no Séc.
