It highlights the relevance of this educational initiative for regional development and for the promotion of social rights among historically marginalized populations, especially the LGBTQIAPN+ community, which is currently served by the aforementioned unit. The study is structured around three guiding axes: the characterization of EJA in Brazil and in the state of Goiás, including the profile of its students; the analysis of education within the prison system, addressing its challenges, legal foundations, and the relationship between education, sentence reduction, and resocialization; and, finally, a case study of the Araçu-GO Prison Agency, covering its history, its impact on regional development, and the specific needs of the diverse populations it serves — with special attention to the educational inclusion of LGBTQIAPN+ individuals. The research aims to reflect on how EJA, when offered equitably and with sensitivity to diversity, can serve as an effective tool for future resocialization.
