Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Administração) - Centro Universitário Alves Faria, 2026.http://repositorio.unialfa.com.br/handle/123456789/823Emotional intelligence has established itself as an indispensable strategic resource for leadership development in contemporary organizations, assuming a role of extreme criticality within the complex environment of judicial public administration. This study investigates how socio-emotional competencies influence and sustain the exercise of strategic leadership within the Court of Justice of the State of Goiás (TJGO), balancing bureaucratic rationality and human sensitivity in team management. The overall objective is to analyze emotional intelligence as a primary support tool for strategic leadership, highlighting its direct implications for the sustainability of organizational performance and the mitigation of psychosocial illness. The theoretical foundation is anchored in the baseline models of emotional intelligence developed by Mayer and Salovey, Goleman, and Bar-On, articulated with perspectives of situational and transformational leadership, as well as the sociological singularities that structure the Brazilian Judiciary. Methodologically, the research is characterized as an exploratory-descriptive qualitative case study, grounded in a systematic literature review and empirical field research. Primary data were collected through a semistructured script applied to ten TJGO managers, operating in different jurisdictions, instances, and areas of expertise, and exhaustively examined through the lens of Content Analysis structured by Bardin. The results evidence the emergence of an original empirical and analytical construct, designated in this research as the "buffering function of emotional leadership." Through this function, it was found that the emotionally intelligent manager acts as a prophylactic shield: absorbing structural anxiety, filtering the rigorous demands arising from the quantitative productivity goals of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), and reframing bureaucratic imperatives into tangible social purposes. The study identified the reflective "pause" as a universal self-regulation strategy within the court and delineated the coexistence of varied managerial profiles, oscillating between reflective emotionally intelligent leadership and implicitly based leadership. It is concluded that the institutionalization and development of emotional intelligence in the Judiciary transcend mere interpersonal refinement, configuring itself as an authentic imperative of occupational health. In environments marked by the paradox of quantitative efficiency versus human limits, emotionally qualified leadership stands as the fundamental condition for shielding teams against exhaustion (burnout) and preserving a sustainable and humanized jurisdictional service.ptInteligência emocionalLiderança estratégicaSaúde ocupacionalAmbiente organizacionalInteligência emocional como ferramenta de apoio de uma liderança estratégica
