The data were collected through normative documents on environmental education for elementary school (final years from 6th to 9th grade) and high school, at the José Pereira de Faria Full Time Teaching Center in Itapuranga. The methodology used was qualitative and quantitative research including documental analysis, bibliometrics and applied to the 12 regent teachers. This allowed us to understand how the application of the PNEA occurs in the mentioned teaching establishment and the sustainability actions that are being carried out. Thus, the study showed CEPI José Pereira de Faria in his practice with affection works the environmental theme and sustainability. He also pointed out that most teachers have advanced knowledge on the subject and its approaches in school documentation such as the PPP (Political Pedagogical Project). As well as, teachers operate the environmental theme in their classes linking interdisciplinary actions to promote practices in learning environments. The research confirmed the importance of public policies as a legal support for the school to strengthen the work focused on the accommodated issue, the benefits of specific SEDUC projects as a way to promote awareness and encourage students and teachers to reflect and positively transform the relationship between man and the environment in the daily life of his needs, thus confidently collaborating for the formation of protagonist citizens in the development of productive activities, and sustainable regional development.ptEducação ambientalSustentabilidadeDesenvolvimento regional
