It highlights the origins of Legal Sociology as a science, emerging from the post-World War II context, along with the theoretical and social conditions that made its development possible. The crisis in the administration of justice, which became evident in the 1960s, revealed the Judiciary's inability to meet growing legal demands, exacerbated by the global recession of the 1970s. There are three main chapters. The first chapter discusses the historical evolution of Legal Sociology, exploring the influences of thinkers such as Karl Marx and Émile Durkheim, and the dominance of a normative and substantive perspective during the embryonic phase of Legal Sociology. The second chapter analyzes the theoretical and social conditions that contributed to its emergence, including the development of Organizational Sociology, Political Science, and Legal Anthropology, as well as social struggles and the crisis in the administration of justice. The third chapter focuses on the crisis in the administration of justice, examining the transformation from a liberal state to a welfare state, and how the global economic recession worsened the state's inability to meet social demands and expand the judicial system. The analysis extends to the economic and social impacts of this crisis, highlighting the increasing judicialization of social and family issues, and international self-compositional methods (in the United States, Australia, Canada, Germany, and New Zealand), which demonstrate forms of consensual conflict resolution. In Brazil, the dissertation examines the application of these methods at the state level, with a specific case study in the 1st JECRIM-AM. It emphasizes the importance of adapting successful international practices to the local context and the role of the police chief in implementing restorative justice, concluding that the adoption of self-compositional methods within the police sphere can contribute to more humane service, social reintegration of offenders, victim satisfaction, and a more efficient and accessible justice system.ptCrise da administração da justiçaMétodos autocompositivosHumanização do atendimentoJustiça restaurativa
