Goiânia (GO), 2024. 110 f Dissertação (Mestrado em Desenvolvimento Regional) - Centro Universitário Alves Faria, 2024http://repositorio.unialfa.com.br/handle/123456789/589This study aims to analyze the contributions of the Goiás Social Program (PGS) to Sustainable Regional Development (DRS) in the municipality of Goiânia, state of Goiás, from 2019 to 2023. The research sought to answer the following guiding question: How does the Goiás Social program affect the socioeconomic development of Goiás and contribute to DRS? To this end, the specific objectives established were the mapping of the development projects that are part of the PGS, as well as the analysis of their objectives, budget, beneficiaries and the alignment between what was presented, disclosed and the effective results of their execution. The research is based on the premise that social public policies are essential to guarantee social rights and promote socioeconomic sustainability. The PGS, as a state initiative in partnership with the municipalities of Goiás, has a multidimensional character, with actions focused on poverty reduction, social inclusion and improving the quality of life of vulnerable populations. The justification for choosing PGS and Goiânia for the research lies in the fact that the state capital concentrates a large part of the population in a situation of social vulnerability, being a suitable environment for evaluating the effectiveness of public policies external to sustainable development. The methodology adopted combined the collection of quantitative and qualitative data. Public reports issued by the Secretariat for Social Development of Goiás were analyzed, in addition to data from the IMB and the Single Registry of the Federal Government. The analysis of variable data includes the number of beneficiaries served, the budgetary resources allocated and the social impacts generated in terms of education, health and food security.The evaluation of the results was carried out in light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, allowing clarity between the results of the PGS and global indicators of sustainable development. The results indicate that the PGS has significant potential to positively influence socioeconomic development and sustainability in Goiânia. The program presents itself as a comprehensive initiative that addresses multiple dimensions of poverty and integrates multiple social sectors, promoting synergies between different areas of public policy.
