The term “decent work” emerged at the International Labor Organization (ILO) in 1999, being defined by requirements such as fair remuneration, job security, social protection, freedom of association, social dialogue, equal opportunities and treatment. In Brazil, legislation incorporated these principles into several norms, most notably in the 1988 Federal Constitution, which in its article 170, item VIII, prioritizes the search for full employment. These actions took place with the concept of Sustainable Development, a topic of great relevance in the United Nations (UN) for more than five decades, gaining international prominence with the adoption of the 2030 Agenda in September 2015 by the 193 Member States of the Organization. This agenda, consisting of 17 objectives and 169 targets, establishes guidelines for monitoring and reviewing progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national, regional and global levels. Brazil adopted a formal commitment to the 2030 Agenda and implemented its means of monitoring and review. Therefore, this research seeks to verify compliance with the 2030 Agenda in Brazil and the effectiveness of the search for full employment in accordance with article 170, item VIII, of the 1988 Federal Constitution. The study is based on documentary analysis and bibliographic review, including statistical data. The results indicate significant progress in incorporating the principles of decent work into Brazilian legislation, although challenges persist in effective implementation and supervision.
