To achieve that goal, an exploratory and documentary research was carried out, based on data obtained from websites of the 27 courts under study, in which the institutional declarations of the courts were collected. Data was collected from strategic maps published on the official websites of the State Courts of Justice in 2020 and then categorized using the content analysis method, as proposed by Bardin (2011). The categorization was performed using the models defined by Pearce and David (1987), Westley and Mintzberg (1989) and Guiso et al. (2015). Results allow us to conclude that the mission statements of the State Courts of Justice, according to the model proposed by Pearce and David (1987), focus on the category of products and services, which is the most frequent, occurring in 89% of cases. The second most frequent criterion was the company's philosophy, evidenced in 63% of the declaration of mission analyzed. As for the Vision, only two of the five categories of the method proposed by Westley and Mintzberg (1989) were mentioned by Brazilian state judicial institutions. Vision declarations that are directed towards the ideals of the institutions and the products were evidenced in 37% of the declarations. The others, namely – services, market, and organization – did not appear in any of the TJs analyzed. The values statements are related to issues regarding innovation and integrity. Regarding organizational values, it was concluded that category 3, proposed by Guiso et al. (2015) is the most recurrent, being quoted 26 times (96% of the circumstances). It was observed that, among JWs in Brazil, category 1, which involves the integrity of the entities, was mentioned 98 times, being evidenced, therefore, in 43% (forty-three percent) of the cases. It is noteworthy that this level of heterogeneity was not expected since the public organizations under analysis are very similar. This research is justified from a theoretical point of view, since, according to Teixeira, Rêgo and Silva Filho (2020), the growing legal demand makes entities improve their processes and management tools and consequently better meet the needs of society. Also, the determination of the National Council of Justice – CNJ – (2014), forces all state courts in the country to draw up strategic management maps, including institutional declarations (mission, vision, and values).ptDeclarações institucionaisGestão estratégicaPoder judiciárioPlanejamento estratégico nos tribunais estaduais do Brasil : uma análise das declarações institucionais
